Slim-Line WC Cistern:The slim-line WC cistern comprises a slender plastic cistern fixed straight onto the wall, using a short downpipe and a lever or knob to operate the flush. This style is a good option if you have space and money. It is quite fragile in that its structural integrity depends on the lid being correctly fitted. Slim-line systems are not good for a WC that will get a lot of rough usage.Close Coupled WC Cistern:Closely linked WC systems are designed so that both the pan and cistern are together as one feature. Manufactured from ceramic, it has no visible downpipe, and the U bends or traps are integral. It can be difficult to fit, so it is not a good idea if you are a nervous plumbing novice. A Harefield Plumber knows this model.Concealed WC Cistern:Concealed WC cisterns are made in ceramic, plastic or metal, and designed to be completely hidden from view behind a panel. The downside is that the panel has to be easily removable, so that the system can be serviced, this is not good if you want to tile the bathroom.Wash Down WC Pan:Wash down style of WC pan is a traditional design that we all know with it’s waste-pipe running ‘back through the wall’ or ‘down through the floor’. A great, cheaper easy-fit option. Make you get a WC pan that has back to the wall down through the floor design that matches the original. High Level WC Cistern:A quite old-fashioned type that sits above head height, with a long downpipe and chain operated flush. A fantastic option should you decide to restore a pre-1950s house. There are reproduction and antique versions readily available. Always ensure that there is enough ceiling height for the fit. Harefield Plumbers can fit any WC.Low Level WC Cistern:A low-level WC system is probably the most common style. These are normally made from ceramic and fitted on brackets. They use a short downpipe and a lever operated flush.
